Abdon District Community Wildlife Group are hosting a screening of the People's Emergency Briefing film on the risks to British life and the UK economy from ongoing damage to nature and to our climate.
Location: Ditton Priors Village Hall, Station Road, Ditton Priors, WV16 6SS
Date: Tuesday 29th September
Time: Doors open 6.30pm. Event starts at 7.00pm
The film features footage from last November's National Emergency Briefing to more than1200 MPs, peers and leaders from business, culture, faith, sport and the media gathered at Westminster Central Hall for the National Emergency Briefing a landmark event bringing together leading experts to assess the UK's exposure to climate and nature risks.
The briefing set out the implications of climate and nature breakdown for food security, public health, infrastructure, the economy and national security, alongside evidence-based actions that could reduce these risks.
The event has now been adapted into a 50 minute public film. It brings together leading scientists to presents a clear picture of the challenges ahead, while creating space for local communities to consider what these issues may mean in their local area.
The initiative is explicitly non-partisan and is supported by a wide range of organisations including National Trust, Church of England, Royal Meteorological Society, WWF, National Education Union and many more.
The purpose of the Briefing is to support informed democratic discussion and ensure that public institutions, businesses and communities share a common understanding of the scale and urgency of the challenge - and the economic opportunities that flow from responding at pace.
Following the film we will host a short structured discussion focused on what this means for our community. Please note the film is rated 16+ and those under 16 should not attend.
Booking is not essential but it would be most helpful if you could let me know if you are intending to attend the event so that we can manage the numbers of attendees.
Best wishes
