NEWS AND EVENTS

​REGULAR EVENTS:

• Meditation Group - every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7pm Abdon Village Hall. Just turn up and give it a try. Free of charge, all welcome. Tea, biscuits and a chat to end the evening. • UFO (Un Finished Objects) craft morning - every 2nd Saturday each month at Abdon Village Hall 10.30am to 12.30pm. Bring along your unfinished projects. Join us and learn a new craft skill or teach your craft skills to someone else. Please supply your own materials. Please make a donation for refreshments. 
• Coffee morning - last Saturday each month in Abdon Village Hall 10.30am to 12.30pm (except for December). Join us for coffee, cake and a chat, everyone welcome!
• Church Services - 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month at St. Margaret's Church, Abdon. See the St. Margaret's Church page for details. Please see the latest Corvedale News or Corvedale Parishes Facebook page for updates. 
• Abdon District Community Wildlife Group - The programme of events for 2026 is attached below.
• Women's Institute - 2nd Monday of the month at 2pm, Clee St.Margaret Village Hall. 
• Parish Council meetings - usually the second Wednesday in January, May, July and October in Abdon Village Hall. See the Parish Council page for details.

• St Margaret’s Church, Abdon - DONATIONS for LUDLOW FOOD BANK in the church porch. Any non-perishable food, unopened and in date will be very welcome, for example: tinned foods, long-lasting drinks, food cupboard items. Your donations will a make a difference and help someone. Donations will be taken regularly to the Ludlow Food Bank. THANK YOU.

• April 21st - Brown Clee Patient Participation Group (PPG) meeting - see notes attached below.
• Saturday 2nd May - Abdon District Community Wildlife Group: Abdon Churchyard Bioblitz and 10th Anniversary Lunch 10am.
• Thursday 7th May - Abdon District Community Wildlife Group: Page's Meadow talk 7.00pm at Clee St. Margaret Village Hall. Simon Cooter Recently retired Senior Reserve Manager at The Stiperstones National Nature Reserve: A Life in Conservation: Four Decades as a Nature Reserve Warden. All welcome. Donation £3.00 towards VH hire and other costs. Includes tea coffee local apple juice and biscuits.
• CANCELLED Friday 8th May - Abdon District Community Wildlife Group: Dawn Chorus Walk – 5.00am Brown Clee picnic area. Weather permitting we will have a slow walk up from the picnic area listening to the early morning bird song. When we finish we can then head off to the Willows Cafe in Ditton Priors for well earned breakfast.
• Wednesday 13th May - Abdon and Heath Parish Council Annual General Meeting (AGM). 7.30pm at Abdon Village Hall. All residents of the villages are welcome to attend the meeting. Agenda attached below.
• Wednesday 20th to Thursday 21st May May - Road Closure:  Boundary Gate Farm to Upper House Junction, Abdon. 7am to 5pm. Purpose: Surface dressing including sweeping. See letter to residents attached below. • Thursday 21st May - Abdon District Community Wildlife Group: Bird Walk Clee Liberty Common 10.00am. We have vehicular access so we will drive up the main track to various points and take short walks to look for the birds using the common.  I have received recent reports of Wheatears having been seen. Meet at Heatham Gate SO5226 8502 venturing.logged.described

• Sunday 7th June - Abdon District Community Wildlife Group: Butterfly Walk Clee Liberty Common 10.00am. We will have vehicular access so we will drive up the main track to various points and take short walks to look for the butterflies using the common.  Last year Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary were recorded.  With the habitat enhancement work that has been carried out over the last couple years it will be interesting to see what we find. • June Date TBA - Abdon District Community Wildlife Group: Dormouse Nestbox Checks.
• 1st to 3rd July - Road Closure:  Ashfield Road to Powkwsmore, Ditton Priors. To enable highways works. Enforcement pattern for Unnamed road Ditton Priors: 08.00-16.00. • 22nd July - Abdon Village Hall Committee AGM. Details to be added.
• Sunday 20th September 2026 - Hills Ford Stages car rally. The Abdon top road will be closed from 6am to 8pm to allow up to 150 rally cars to pass through. Residents and emergency services will be allowed access but can only travel in one direction. If you have any concerns please contact [email protected]
